Servus, Grüezi and Hello! Herbie the life artist here.
You would think a confirmed flight booking is set in stone. Anyone who believes that clearly hasn't factored in the magical world of airline bureaucracy! After my confirmed return flight from Manila to Chiang Mai simply vanished from the system without a trace, I sent two polite yet firm emails to customer service. The outcome? Complete radio silence. Not a single peep.
Since emails apparently evaporate into digital oblivion these days, I had no choice: throw on the straw hat, jump into a taxi, and march straight down to the airport in person! After endless explanations, a heavy dose of patience, and a long wait at the counter, the grand relief finally arrived: the tickets were reactivated!
But anyone who thinks the drama ended there clearly doesn't know the universe. When I later checked the app to confirm my usual reserved seats, shocker number two hit: my original seats were completely gone! Instead, they generously assigned me a spot in the absolute last row—right where you get the full blast of the engine roar and the toilet door clacks open every two seconds. And all this for a mess that wasn't even my fault!
Naturally, this old globetrotter isn't taking that lying down. My next excursion is heading straight to the local Thai Airways office to swap this "VIP" back-row seat for a proper one.
All my personal mishaps, bureaucratic battles, and wild travel stories await you fresh over at ueberwintern.com.
